Sport for All in the Isle of Youth

The Sport for All Study Group as an educational and cultural entity of the Jesus Montane Oropesa University’s Physical Education Faculty was created in the Isle of Youth thanks to the original idea of ​​Science Doctors Juan Carlos Garcia Mesa and Douglas Crispin Castellanos, tenure and assistant professors of that institution respectively.

This initiative that involves sport professionals aims at the implementation of physical education projects, according to the conception of the Sport for All Olympic Committee, from preschool to school levels.

Sport for All has the goal of strengthening the sport universe in the territory starting from development initiatives; as expressed by those at the Sport for All creation meeting, it adopts Pierre Coubertin’s (Baron de Coubertin) concept when conceiving the International Olympic Academy as a research and study center, especially on issues related to Olympics and methodologies´ development in order to bring the Olympic ideal to the contemporary society.

Among the main features there are the encouragement of research; the production and promotion of information data; the organization of a Documentation Center and educational activities such as seminars and lectures, which will help to promote the study group and the exchange relations with other similar organizations both nationally and internationally.

The Sport for All Study Group is leaded by a Directive Board named by the Faculty of Physical Education and those members who meet the statutes.

The study group´s agenda includes management strategies for the teams; game systems; talent detection and selection; monitoring and evaluation of the athletes´ performance; as well as  Applied Sciences contribution on them.
