FMC recognizes rural woman in the Isle of Youth

Rural women in the Isle of Youth were recognized by the Cuban Women Federation (FMC) this October 15th, World Day of Rural Woman.

In the meetings carried out in the 17 cooperatives of the territory, they knew the message sent by the feminine organization that highlights the potential of these women for giving answer to the necessity of increase food production and contribute to the development of these rural areas.

“We will celebrate along with you every year the fulfilment of the measures adopted in the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Woman and we support always your participation in the adoption of decisions in all fronts” – read the text.

The National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP) of the territory also recognized them.

In the Municipality there are 17 cooperatives and four of them are led by women. Miriam Cabrera is an example of it, who is leader in the Ernesto Guevara Credit and Service Cooperative (CCS).
