The first counting of dwellings and individual people as part of the National Population and Housing Census finished in the Isle of Youth successfully thank to the work undertaken by enumerators, supervisors and other participants.

Preliminary numbers show that were surveyed 28,987 houses for a 103.1 percent of expected ones and 81,231 people, representing 96.6 percent of the presumably existing in the territory.
censo-isla-01According to Pedro Ortiz, head of the Municipal Statistics Office and director of this important research in the territory, the Isle undertook a laudable exercise with a great participation of people and a goog work of those who worked at the collection of data.

There are still isolated cases of people who have not been surveyed, but it can be solved in the next few hours; although between September 29 and October 8, a number of homes will be revisited, to determine if any omissions or duplications occurred and ensure that responses were accurate.

In general, for the whole country, the results of the National Census of Population and Housing will provide better conditions to design social programs with greater impact and effectiveness in the implementation of the Cuban Economic and Social Policy Guidelines approved in the sixth Congress of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC), work platform to improve the socialist model and people´s welfare.
