The sowing of over 50 hectares of Persa lime-trees in the present year will mark a citric recovery, which was the main exportable field of the Isle of Youth during many years.

The program will last until 2020 and it pretends to cover 2 thousand hectares of grapefruit, orange and mandarin orange.

The production of plants was begun 12 months before, in nurseries under a strict phytosanitary control and the application of science and technology that give the possibility of getting a high quality variety corresponding with the demands of the international market.

This labor guarantee patterns and buds produced in the special Municipality, appropriate for these kind of grounds and the weather characteristics of the territory.

According to Camilo Company Azcuy, general director of the Citric Enterprise, this task is carried out by agronomists with a wide exprerience and scientific results.

The program of fruits in the territory also includes the sowing of other fruits like pineapple, mango, coconut, guava among others.
