Piruetas acrobatic group from the Isle of Youth traveled to France where it performs acrobatic acts in recreation centers.

Directed by Vladimir Zulueta Razo, the group has seven members, six of them graduated from Circuba, Cuba’s National Circus School; this is a new professional project of the Isle of Youth´s Performing Arts Council, ranked as first-level by Circuba’s specialists.

Along with Piruetas’ cast, Laura Alonso’s Ballet Company, directed by Héctor Figueredo, and Santa Clara’s Quinteto Criollo band traveled to that European country.

This is the seventh consecutive visit to France carried out by the Cuban artists as part of a cultural agreement between unions aimed at the strengthening of the links between the two nations.

“During these seven years 21 groups and over 150 artists from Cuba have performed in France as part of this agreement,” said Sebastien Viscous, in charge of the commissions of the international and cultural activities of the Gas and Electricity Union´s Central Fund of Social Activities (CCAS), that belongs to the General Confederation of Labour, the largest French union that has agreements in this regard with Cuba’s Ministry of Culture.

Every year more than 6,000 French workers and their families enjoy the presentation of Cuban artists in the recreation centers located all over France.

The cultural agreement also allows the members of the Gas and Electricity Union to travel to Cuba where they visit centers of social, economic and cultural interest.
